françois blanciak architect has completed an indoor-outdoor scheme for the university of sydney‘s 2017 architecture graduate exhibition.
the site specific intervention is designed to extend beyond architectural limits and towards the city as it moves out of the building where it is supposed to take place. the conceptual diagram takes the form of a large dotted circle, bringing together disconnected spaces and reaching from indoors to outdoors. the unusual concept aims to enhance interaction of the exhibition with the urban realm.

the design by blanciak features a 26 meter diameter circle that encompasses different spaces, both indoor and outdoor, separated by perpendicular walls. this large circle is materialized as a thick dotted line whose footprint is extruded to form 13 identical structures, built out of timber, steel and corrugated plastic. the vertical surface of these individual elements is used to further unify the exhibited content. it features composite layouts of drawings (one per student) directly printed onto the cladding material, evenly displaying work from the various architecture degrees represented in the show. this project by blanciak creates a unique architectural exhibition that interacts with the university while connecting to the outdoors and to the surrounding public spaces.
