the bruges based design agency, skinn, has designed the new brand identity for the upstairs hotel in ostend, belgium. the design of the new interior is inspired by the urban aesthetics of new york and is characterized by the use of black and yellow. the hotel features a striking jet black façade and yellow ‘U’ that together form the visual identity of the hotel.

the concept developed by skinn has been used throughout the entirety of the hotel to create a brand and visual cohesion. the interior uses a palette of varying materials handpicked by the designer, such as wood, metal and concrete, forming the bold urban style. the ground floor is designed as a cozy hub that comprises of spaces to relax, a ping-pong table, co-working spaces and conference rooms available for hire. in the bar and restaurant, the stylish interior continues and guests can enjoy food from the soul food concept menu, based on street food from around the globe.
the upstairs hotel consists of 96 renovated rooms, making it one of the largest hotels in ostend. the concept of the interior can be be found in every room, even in the smallest details using the black and yellow accents. thanks to the stylish and thorough design by skinn, the hotel becomes an inviting space for tourists and locals in ostend.
